Job Description

Skyhawk Therapeutics with sites in Boston and Basel is a drug discovery and development company founded in 2018 by leading experts in small molecule therapeutics. Skyhawk is committed to discovering developing and commercializing small molecule therapeutics that modify RNA expression. We use our novel SkySTARTM platform (Skyhawk Small molecule Therapeutics for Alternative splicing of RNA) to develop drug candidates for some of the worlds most intractable diseases including cancer neurological conditions and other therapeutic areas and targets previously considered undruggable. Tasks

The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to work in collaboration with an experienced crossfunctional team and external partners to help advance small molecules targeting indications with high unmet need. As the (Sr) Director of Operations of our Basel site the candidate will apply their multifunctional expertise to provide operational leadership to our entire Basel team as well as line management to our local operations team. The candidate will also work closely with our finance legal HR and IT teams in Boston and with local partners. Contributing to the innovative open and supportive culture at Skyhawk the candidate will be part of a dynamic team focused on delivering transformative therapies to patients.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide senior level leadership and management to a local operations team of 5 members consisting of administration & accounting human resources information technology and laboratory safety & operations.
  • Be the local point of contact to external consultants and partners involved in our Basel team operations; including legal and finance teams vendors landlord and local authorities.
  • Work closely with the Operations teams in Basel and Boston to evaluate establish and/or improve internal processes ensuring highquality efficiency and compliance in the following areas: Procurement & accounting recruitment & onboarding internal policies & regulations employee wellbeing & development safety & security.
  • Work closely with the Finance team in Boston and local finance consultants to assist on financial processes; including (but not limited to) preparing analytical schedules running system reports and supporting audit activities.
  • Communicate corporate messages to the internal Basel team.
  • Provide a safe and productive work environment for our Basel employees ensuring access to adequate infrastructure resources and safety protocols.
  • Lead the organization of team meetings team events and hosting of visitors.
  • Cultivate a fluid open communication across all functions; foster a teamcentered highly collaborative culture; and encourage thoughtful and gracious interactions through leading by good example.
  • Support the Basel team expansion ensuring communication to leadership regarding needs for additional headcount equipment and budget as the team grows.

Requirements

  • 10 yrs experience within a Pharma or biotech environment of which at least 5 yrs were within a similar operational role.
  • A Degree in Finance or Life Sciences is highly desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. Finance Supply Chain Human Resources) and of local best practices.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing effective plans and strategies that align with the organizations goals and objectives.
  • Experience working for a U.S. public company (familiarity with US GAAP accounting rules) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with finance and procurement tools (Netsuite Quartzy Expensify Asset Tiger and Excel) are an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities with an ability to build consensus and relationships across functions.
  • Outstanding people skills and empathetic leadership.
  • Able to identify points of improvement and proactively propose new and creative solutions.
