Job Specification: Legal Cashier

Location: Newcastle

Our Client:
We are delighted to represent a highly regarded and dynamic legal firm based in Newcastle known for its exceptional client service and supportive work environment. Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Legal Cashier to join their finance team.

Role Overview:
The Legal Cashier will be responsible for managing a range of financial activities in line with the Solicitors Accounts Rules. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial processing and contribute to the smooth running of the firm s financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Process bank reconciliations
Update and maintain cash flow forecasts
Input and reconcile sales and purchase ledgers
Post company credit card transactions
Manage online bank payments
Input HMLR/HMCTS invoices
Prepare weekly payment runs
Process Legal Aid payments
Input and reconcile petty cash
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Reconcile supplier statements
Manage residual client balances
Address general ledger queries

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:
Be an experienced Legal Cashier
Have thorough knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
Possess excellent IT skills including proficiency in Outlook Word and preferably Excel and CMS
Experience with Leap and Xero is desirable but not essential
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Be able to work well under pressure
Show a willingness to adapt and be flexible
Thrive in a team environment
Hold at least 5 GCSEs at grades AC including English and Maths

A qualification in Accounting or Finance 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks Attention to detail and accuracy Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
