This is a fulltime role and they offer a very attractive salary starting at 42000.

The main purpose of the Band 6 Nurse is to provide assessment planning and implementation of health care for adults and young people attending the Foundation. To be responsible for supporting adults and young people through medical needs both physically and emotionally. Nurses work and collaborate with other professionals to ensure there is seamless support to adults young people and families.
The main duties of the Band 6 Nurse are:
To plan implement and evaluate nursing interventions and health promotional developments.
To make referrals or liaise with appropriate hospital specialties/agencies.
To support staff in providing up to date and skilled care which will include the administration of medication passing of nasogastric tubes care of tracheostomies gastrostomies and the passing of catheters administration of oxygen.
To oversee the development of policies and procedures for medication including MAR sheets.
To be able to work effectively within a day service and residential setting.
Support with relevant auditing activities.
To attend annual review meetings discharge planning meetings multidisciplinary meetings and case conferences.
To be part of the assessment process.
To be responsible for delivering or arranging training of staff.
To participate in the training programmes creating an appropriate learning.
To maintain accurate professional records in accordance with NMC.
To ensure medical care plans are updated and shared with all services involved.
To ensure all Safeguarding incidents are reported in line with policies and procedures.
To involve parents and young people and encourage them to make informed choices concerning their health and general wellbeing.
To communicate effectively with the young person and their carers to understand their condition. To give sensitive/emotive information around diagnosis and/or outcomes.
The knowledge and experience required of Band 6 Nurse are:
A sound knowledge of diabetes cerebral palsy muscular dystrophy and autism
A sound knowledge of tracheostomies gastrostomies and seizure management
Experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities
An understanding of national initiatives (i.e. LeDer STOMP Your Welcome)
Moving and Handling skills
Ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues
Be involved in making shared decisions
Qualified and registered nurse.
Evidence of safeguarding levels 1 & 2 and a willingness to complete levels 3 & 4
A positive and cando attitude
High level communication and interpersonal skills.
A solution focused proactive approach to resolving issues.
Ability to effectively manage own time and resources.
