Duties: General Description: Under general supervision provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the positions. Chemotherapy and Administration and Consultation: Administers PO SC injections chemotherapy drugs and other medications as ordered by physician: consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy side effects etc.; provides a variety of assistance to physicians. Assumes responsibility for clinic specific assignments. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the clinic time of discharge and continued care via phone triage. Informs patient and family of clinic procedures. Patient Education: Provides chemotherapy related educational information to patients family etc.; answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate. Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Patient Follow Up: Schedules patient followup activities related to their treatment and assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with the patients after their clinic visits. General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills: Required Skills & Experience: 1 year of experience. Knowledge of professional nursing theory practices techniques and procedures. Ability to organize plan coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills. Preferred Skills & Experience: N/A
Education: Required Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program Required Certifications & Licensure: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association ACLS (American Heart Association). Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). Preferred Certifications & Licensure: N/A
Schedule Notes: This is a position through the Stephenson Cancer Centertraining may be needed in the OKC location but this will be an assignment for the Schusterman CenterTulsa location. This assignment will include infusion administration and medical oncology clinic support.
