Project Engineer I - Proposal - Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories provides complete power system protection control monitoring automation security and integration for utilities and industries worldwide. We are looking for Project Engineer Proposal to provide technical support to customers. A successful candidate must have knowledge and experience for transmission and distribution systems knowledge on power system protection relay testing and commissioning knowledge on procedures of power system protection settings and testing and related SEL products. As a Project Engineer Proposal a typical day might include the following:

Possesses understands and applies knowledge and experience of power system proposals focusing on reviewing customer RFQ documents for technical specifications and scope evaluating bid/no bid decisions developing work statement preliminary designs responsibility matrix risk assessment cash flow and preliminary project schedules developing good understanding of SELs complete ES portfolio and use it effectively to develop complete solutions and working with contracts to finalize terms and conditions and related SEL products to complete complex assignments.
Lead in training and assisting customers with the creation design configuration validation installation commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems.
Lead in assigning completing and implementing work within agreed upon scope schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
Assist in the identification preparation and presentation of successful proposals for SEL equipment services and systems.
Mentor and develop professional staff. May supervise as necessary.
Model teach and apply SEL Values Principles of Operations and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

This job might be for you if you:

B.S. In Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
5 years relevant application experience with electric power systems industry practices and proposal practices and philosophies

Have experience in EPC/ Panel Builders/ Tendering background (Automation & Protection CRP)

Demonstrated knowledge of electric power system protection and control integration and/or automation and communications applications
Demonstrated proven knowledge of electric power system design studies information and communication technology and protective relay applications
Willing to travel both domestically and internationally based on focus area
Strong writing documentation and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Professional Engineer License or equivalent certification (preferred)

Project management experience (preferred)

Working knowledge of Vision or other project management tracking software (preferred)

Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
