Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES/GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

1.1.1. Scope of Work:

1.1.1.2. The musicians shall serve as the primary musician for the Protestant Worship Service.

The musician shall provide piano or keyboard and/or guitar accompaniment during the worship services the worship music requirements and expectation of the chaplain assigned to lead the worship service.

1.1.2. Location:

1.1.2.1. Primary facilities but not limited to for unforeseen reasons or special services will be Chapel Bldg 3 GK NATO AB Germany.

1.1.3. Workmanship:

1.1.3.1. All work shall be accomplished within the guidelines of the assigned Protestant Worship Service Chaplain Air Force Instructions and the Installation Chaplains Policy Statements.

1.1.4. Work to be Accomplished:

1.1.4.1. Coordinate all music support requirements for the Protestant Worship programs with the assigned Protestant Worship chaplain or designated representative. The Protestant Worship chaplain or designated representative (Protestant Community Coordinator) will provide the musician with the necessary information relative for the various chapel services and activities.

1.1.4.2. Coordinate with the assigned Protestant Worship Service Chaplain for special services (including but not limited to Unity or Ecumenical Services). Musician shall be given a 30day notice before performing for special services. (Exception: unplanned emergencies such as a memorial or funeral services)

1.1.4.3. The musician will ensure that the weekly worship music lyrics are uploaded onto the appropriate software and ready for the audio/visual tech volunteer to project for the attendees.

1.1.4.4. Coordinate with the respective music team volunteers on their availability for rehearsals and services. They will have a 13 month plan for worship music and volunteers for the worship service. This will be done through an online app.

1.1.4.5. Arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the service. Be in place with appropriate instrument(s) and ready to begin on time with appropriate praise worship and/or hymn music for the worship service in coordination with lead vocals and/or lead guitar or other specified volunteer worship leader.

1.1.4.6. Setup and take down all necessary items for rehearsals and worship services. Ensure the areas used will be properly secured upon completion of rehearsals and worship services (This includes being responsible for enforcing the proper care and storage of contract related chapel music equipment and supplies).

1.1.4.7. Properly mark and utilize all music that is copyright protected with the Chapels Christian Copyright License International (CCLI) number to be located on all sides of documents presentations or media. Utilize CCLI/Song Selects top 100 Christian songs to pick from as well as but not limited to one hymn per Sunday worship service.

1.1.5. Competency of Contracted Personnel:

1.1.5.1. The musician must be able to speak read and write English fluently.

1.1.5.2. Be willing to work in an interfaith environment.

1.1.5.3. Proficiently play the keyboard and/or guitar. The musician must provide a recorded example (via YouTube) to ensure proficiency in various music styles including contemporary praise worship and hymns.

1.1.5.4. Demonstrate both competence and capability to perform required services for which they are engaged and the ability to skillfully sight read and play music with little or no advanced preparation.

1.1.5.5. Musician must be able to provide Protestant Worship music all of which will be tailored to meet the worship needs of the service wherein assigned. Musician must possess a working knowledge of the church calendar to be able to anticipate musical needs for presentations during the special seasons of the year.

1.1.5.6. The musician shall be fully qualified to perform the required services without any supervision or direction by Government personnel.

1.1.5.7. In accordance with DODI 1402.5 a Criminal History Background Check and/or Local Files Check must be accomplished for all individuals working with children. Consent to the background check is mandatory. Failure to consent to the background check will be grounds for immediate cancellation of the contract at no further cost to the Government. In the event that a criminal history is found the contract will be terminated at no further cost to the Government.

1.1.5.8. The musician must furnish a resume including academic and workrelated references.

Preferred to have experience playing in religious worship services but not required.

1.1.6. Musician Points of Contact:

1.1.6.1. The musician shall provide the Contracting Officer and the Protestant Worship

Chaplain with any changes to his current address telephone numbers and email address. They will also provide the names of a primary and alternate point of contact with telephone numbers in case of emergency.

1.1.7. Performance:

1.1.7.1. The musician shall arrive at the chapel a minimum of 15 minutes before the start of the practice and the worship service. Rehearsals will last at least one (1) hour but no more than two (2) hours. Rehearsals are scheduled per the guidance of the Protestant Worship Service Chaplain and a consensus of the lead volunteers and of the majority of the worship music team. Performances will last least one (1) hour but no more than two (2) hours. Rehearsals will not exceed 52 units per year.

Performances shall include a minimum 10minute warmup session before each service.

Performances are scheduled on Sundays at 1115 hrs but are subject to change with needs of community. Performances will not exceed 52 units per year.

1.1.7.2. Other special performances such as holy days may be required during weekdays. Special rehearsals and performances will not exceed 16 units per year.

1.2. GENERAL INFORMATION

1.2.1. Musician Responsibility:

1.2.1.1. The musician is solely responsible for all tax liabilities. No provisions are implied or provided in this contract for any benefits such as medical care retirement or workers compensation.

1.2.1.2. The musician shall provide a qualified substitute in the event the musician cannot meet any obligation of this contract. A qualified substitute is defined as an individual who meets the qualifications outlined in paragraph 1.1.5 of this PWS. This substitute must meet the same qualifications as the musician and be approved by the Contracting Officer Representative or Senior Installation Chaplain in advance. The substitute will not be another current chapel musician unless approved in writing by the Contracting Officer Representative for rare or extenuating circumstances. If substitute is another current chapel musician musician and substitute will work closely with Contracting Officer Representative to develop a schedule that will fulfill both Statements of Work; any requirements such as hours or events must be met independently of any other existing chapel contract position. The Musician is responsible for payment of substitute.

1.2.1.3. The musician shall present a neat wellgroomed appearance appropriate for chapel worship services during all times while he is performing services under this contract.

1.2.1.4. The musician shall furnish his own transportation to and from Geilenkirchen NATO AB Germany.

1.2.1.5. The Government will not be liable for loss damage theft or maintenance of personal equipment.

2. GOVERNMENTFURNISHED PROPERTY AND UTILITIES

2.1. Equipment:

2.1.1. The Government will furnish Governmentowned keyboard and/or guitar in the chapel facilities. Requirements for music supplies and internet subscriptions (i.e. scores song sheets folders Song Select etc.) will be submitted in writing at least sixty (60) days in advance of the required date and will include: title number required cost and suggested source. Government owned equipment/supplies will not be moved without the permission of the Installation Chaplain.

2.2. Liability:

2.2.1. The musician shall be liable for loss damage or theft of Government property due to the musicians carelessness and/or negligence. Negligence will be determined by appropriate Report of Survey findings
