Description

  • This position is currently listed as Onsite; however the Assignment under this request will provisionally be Hybrid working 7.25 hours per calendar day sometime between 8:005:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks) Monday to Friday inclusive unless otherwise identified. These conditions are subject to change as the OPS reflects on its current situation. During the duration of the assignment you will be under the discretion of the Hiring Managers requirements for the Project you are assigned to.
  • The Common Cluster Solutions Branch focuses on services that support both ministries and all branches within the cluster. CCS also provides business intelligence data analysis and other KPI reporting on important areas of business operations to our partners and the cluster. These services include Business Intelligence (BI) which consists of performance reporting analytics and consulting services and includes offering selfservice tools to enable and empower our business partners to make informed decisions for their daytoday business operations.
  • The resource would be engaged on a number of discrete projects that have been approved by ministry program areas as key priorities including:
  • SOLGEN Private Security & Investigation Services Branch (PSISB) to develop Compliance Enforcement reporting Phase 1
  • SOLGEN Private Security & Investigation Services Branch (PSISB) to develop Compliance Enforcement reporting Phase 2
  • SOLGEN Animal Welfare Services (AWS) critical operational reporting
  • Modernized Use of Force reporting;
  • Inventory of Mental Health Programs reporting;
  • eRoster reporting;
  • CSOI Investigations Reporting
  • In addition other Microsoft Power BI work is ongoing within the Branch and resources may be required to assist in other Power BI development work involved in the unit.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Deliverables:

  • Design prototypes of business intelligence solutions (dashboards and reports)
  • Undertake special assignments/subprojects as assigned.
  • Assess evaluate and document stakeholder interests.
  • Conduct business requirement sessions and document options and outcomes.
  • Prepare and document data analysis findings and data dictionaries.
  • Participate in problem analysis and identify opportunities where business intelligence and advanced analytics can be used to support project and/or program objectives.
  • Serve as a data analytics subject matter expert on interdisciplinary project teams and/or as an adhoc advisor to deliver data analytics expertise and advice.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of developed analytical solutions to identify opportunities for enhancements or evolution.
  • Research prepare and document issues related to data collection and reporting requirements.
  • Plan prepare and deliver demo and training sessions on new Business Intelligence dashboards and reports to all levels of user community.
  • Ensure alignment and adherence to IT processes and standards.
  • Participate in development and UAT testing and document results.
  • Participate in Knowledge transfer.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst in building Business Intelligence reports and dashboards
  • Proven experience in understanding capturing and analyzing complex and sometimes competing business requirements to develop Power BI and Business Intelligence products
  • Demonstrated experience with Power BI SQL Query and/or other data query tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Microsoft Power BI service
  • Proven demonstratable experience in data visualization; working with BI implementation methodologies
  • Knowledge of data analysis data management
  • Proven ability to partner with internal/external stakeholders and liaise with technical experts and nontechnical colleagues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Strong written presentation and interpersonal communication skills with special attention to correct use of tense grammar/spelling and terminology
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to plan and prioritize workload ensuring timelines are met and respond to demands of a dynamic environment
  • Mandatory Requirements: At least 5 years of experience
  • All roles procured are required to be cleared through the Contractor Security Clearance Process of the OPS.
  • Security Clearance process levels roles etc. are subject to change without prior notice. Candidates may be required to undergo revised/new process (or levels) any time prior or during the term of the contract.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Ability to examine understand and present requirements data and information in a cohesive manner using various tools including TOAD SQL Server Management Studio Visio Powerpoint Miro Mermaid.js Excel
  • Ability to Lead and advise on data compatibility and recommend solutions.
  • Superior knowledge of the Microsoft 365 Office suite and Microsoft Azure ecosystem
  • Experience in database transition to work between platforms and manage multiple stages of projects from initiation to testing to delivery
  • Ability to liaise and provide reporting information assessment and data interpretation to others

  • Experience in Business Intelligence Reporting: Demonstrated ability to construct comprehensive BI reports and dashboards reflecting expertise in data visualization and interpretation.
  • Proficiency in Power BI: Proven skills in utilizing Power BI for data analysis and report creation including familiarity with advanced features and functionalities.
  • Expertise in SQL and Data Query Tools: Demonstrated experience in SQL querying and the use of various data query tools for data extraction transformation and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI Service: Indepth understanding and practical experience with Microsoft Power BI Service including its integration and customization.
  • Data Visualization Skills: Proven capability in creating effective and insightful data visualizations utilizing various tools and techniques.
  • BI Implementation Methodologies: Familiarity with different Business Intelligence implementation methodologies and their practical application in realworld scenarios.
  • Data Analysis and Management Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of data analysis principles and data management practices including data quality and governance.
  • Advanced Analytical Techniques: Demonstrated experience in applying advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning predictive analytics and statistical analysis to derive actionable insights from large datasets.
  • Experience with Data Cleansing and Preprocessing: Proven skills in data cleansing and preprocessing including handling missing data anomaly detection and normalization to ensure data quality and reliability for analysis.
  • Proficiency in Data Analytics Tools: Expertise in using data analytics tools such as Python (Pandas NumPy SciPy) R or SAS for complex data manipulation and analysis.
  • Data Interpretation and Insight Generation: Strong ability to interpret data identify trends and patterns and generate meaningful insights that support business decisionmaking.
  • Experience with Data Mining Techniques: Proficiency in data mining techniques and methodologies including clustering classification regression and association rules to extract valuable information from large datasets.
  • Experience in Data Warehousing: Understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience in working with data warehouse technologies.
  • Knowledge of Data Integration Techniques: Skills in integrating data from various sources and formats for comprehensive analysis.
