What You Will Do

The Financial Controller will lead the organization of Ritual’s financial statements and identify cost controlling measures that will enable us to continue on our fast growth. Help steer Ritual’s financial objectives and prepare us for 70100% YOY growth.

Responsibilities will include the following:

Weekly:

• Identify cost savings opportunities and improvements to key financial metrics
• Employee expense report and vendor invoice review and approval (Accounting firm will remit payment) including spotting anomalies and contractual inconsistencies
• Interfacing with Ritual employees on invoicing issues and resolving vendor payment portal issues
• Directing the outsourced accounting firm to code the appropriate Chart of Accounts booking period amortization schedule and/or creation of prepaid assets
• Identifying customer pricing inconsistencies and determining/enforcing which customers need to pay prior to Ritual fulfilling their next order
• Directing A/R collection (accounting firm and sales team members will do the heavy lifting)
• Reviewing check remittance details and cashing
• Organizing the inbound collection of distributor chargeback invoices (with freedom to implement automated processes) working with the sales team to confirm if distributor incentives were truly earned and assisting in the occasional distributor chargeback dispute
• Answering complicated accounting questions with accuracy

Monthly:

• Assisting in the closing of the monthly books including tracking of key invoices accruals prepaid assets and identifying oneoff journal entries for the accounting team to enter
• Implementing new processes and software systems to better streamline the internal/external finance department
• Assisting the Director of Finance in preparation of key investor documents and decks

Annually:

• Assisting the Director of Finance and external tax firm on the preparation of documents for our annual tax returns (we outsource annual taxes and have automated our monthly sales tax process so the workload of the Ritual Financial Controller position is fairly constant across all months)

Other:

• We’re a small team (3540 employees) that’s moving mountains. There’s plenty of opportunity to help grow Ritual through your other skills and interests. Those could be technical skills: PowerBI/Tableau PowerPoint Excel IT ERPs or other software systems presentations. And those could be interests such as local/industry events teambuilding activities charitable endeavors or shaking wicked fullproof lowproof or zeroproof cocktails – the opportunity is yours and let us know!

Who You Are

You should have a deep understanding of accounting within the CPG industry be process driven committed to continuous improvement and be an Excel expert. You might just be the ideal addition to our team if you have an entrepreneurial spirit are a proactive task tackler and thrive in relationship building and team synergy!

Qualifications:

• CPA degree strongly preferred (or CMA)
• 515 years of financial experience (progressive responsibilities across accounting financial management and/or controlling) experience working with accounting departments and deep knowledge of the major financial statements
• Experience with CPG companies is vital – food & beverage CPG experience even better
• High proficiency in Excel including knowledge of mediumtoadvanced formulas and some experience in building financial models
• Ability to perform in an entrepreneurial environment where all employees must fit well together and all employees must proactively seek the next task with limited formal training
