Facade Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Facade Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing analyzing and detailing building facades to ensure structural integrity energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal. This role requires proficiency in engineering principles drafting software and a keen eye for detail. Collaboration with architects contractors and other stakeholders will be essential to deliver highquality facade solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards

Tasks

Key Responsibilities:

Design Development: Facade engineers collaborate with architects and other stakeholders to develop the conceptual and technical design of building facades. This involves considering factors such as aesthetics performance sustainability and structural integrity

• Material Selection: They research and select appropriate materials for the facade based on factors like durability energy efficiency costeffectiveness and architectural vision. This may include glass metal stone concrete and various composite materials
• Structural Analysis: Facade engineers conduct structural analysis and simulations to ensure that the facade can withstand loads such as wind snow and seismic forces
• Performance Testing: They oversee the testing of facade components and systems to evaluate their performance in terms of weather resistance thermal insulation sound insulation fire resistance and sustainability. This may involve laboratory testing as well as onsite mockups
• Code Compliance: Facade engineers ensure that the design and construction of building facades comply with relevant building codes regulations and standards. They stay updated on local building codes and industry guidelines.
• Coordination: They coordinate with architects structural engineers contractors and other project team members to integrate the facade design with the overall building design and construction schedule. This includes resolving conflicts and ensuring smooth communication among stakeholders.
• Value Engineering: Facade engineers may engage in value engineering to optimize the facade design in terms of cost performance and aesthetics without compromising quality or safety.
• Quality Assurance: They perform inspections and quality assurance checks at various stages of construction to identify and address any issues or deviations from the design.
• Maintenance and Retrofitting: Facade engineers may be involved in the assessment maintenance and retrofitting of existing building facades to improve performance durability and energy efficiency over time.

• Design Accuracy: Measure the accuracy and completeness of the facade engineers design solutions compared to the project requirements and specifications.
• Technical Proficiency: Assess the engineers proficiency in using relevant software tools for structural analysis modeling and drafting as well as their understanding of facade materials and systems
• Code Compliance Rate: Track the rate at which the engineers designs comply with building codes regulations and standards relevant to facade construction
• Project Timelines: Evaluate the engineers ability to meet project deadlines for deliverables such as design proposals technical drawings and construction documentation
• Cost Control: Monitor the engineers ability to develop costeffective facade solutions while meeting project requirements and quality standards
• Client Satisfaction: Gather feedback from clients architects contractors and other stakeholders to assess satisfaction with the engineers communication responsiveness problemsolving and overall performance
• Construction Quality: Measure the quality of facade installations based on factors such as adherence to design specifications workmanship and absence of defects or rework
• Safety Performance: Track safety incidents related to facade construction activities and assess the engineers adherence to safety protocols and regulations
• Innovation and Sustainability: Evaluate the engineers contribution to innovative and sustainable facade design solutions including energy efficiency material selection and environmental impact
• Professional Development: Assess the engineers participation in professional development activities such as training certifications conferences and industry networking

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• Proven experience 5 years above in facade engineering
• Has experience handling Australian Clients
• Has a strong portfolio showcasing previous facade engineering projects design solutions technical drawings and contributions to successful building projects
• Proficiency in relevant software tools is essential for facade engineers to perform tasks such as structural analysis building modeling drafting and project management. Commonly used software includes AutoCAD Revit Rhino SAP2000 ETABS ANSYS and computational design tools
• Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities
• Professional licensure or certification is a plus
