We are looking for an ambitious and talented Head of Learning to lead in the conceptualization development and implementation of cuttingedge virtual and blended learning programmes. A Head of Learning will: Develop blended learning programmes that create impact at scale lead the Learning Team including complex programme designlearning experience design workshop design and content development and build and manage a panAfrican Network of facilitators.


The Head of Learning will report to the Chief Product Officer and will lead the Learning and Facilitation Teams. He/she will work closely with the business development teams to build programmes that work for our growing group of African and global clients. You will be a key player in a dynamic international team focused obsessively on results. At AMI we work hard innovate constantly and have fun.

The successful candidate will manage learning at AMI to work with and support the Chief Product Officer with strategic learning input to the Product team to help develop innovative learning products adapting the methodology supporting product to scale and adapt to the market and technical innovation.

S/he will lead and practice design of scalable learning programmes for Entrepreneurship and Workplace Learning that are impactful scalable and worldclass. The design of new scalable blended and virtual learning programmes is the primary responsibility of the Head of Learning in collaboration with the Chief Product Officer and Sales and Partnerships teams.


  • Provide strategic direction to AMI s learning products To help develop innovative learning products adapting the methodology supporting the product to scale and adapt to the market and technical innovation.
    Overall responsibility for the documentation and iteration of AMI s learning methodology and content strategy
    Interrogating AMI s learning outcomes and impact in partnership with the Impact Intelligence teams undertaking analysis evaluation and review of AMI s method and core learning programmes.
    Supporting thought leadership for scalable blended learning on the content that produces tangible business outcomes

  • She/he will manage the Learning Team Managing the processes of learning design and acting as functional manager to the team of Learning Designers. Learning design includes overall programme scoping and design learning experience workshop and content design and development.
    Define and manage the process and pipeline of Learning Design at AMI across segments units and countries.
    S/he will design and lead design teams to deliver scalable learning content and programmes for Entrepreneurship and Workplace Learning that are impactful scalable and worldclass.
    Support in the management of Learning Experience Design including innovating on the crossfunctional implementation and project teams that oversee and iterate blended and virtual learning programme delivery driving uptake and engagement leading to measurable outcomes.


  • Oversee the Content Development Team focusing on building courses tools toolkits and innovative learning content that meets the needs of our diverse clientele and remains efficient and agile. AMI builds online learning content suited to our key markets including video based courses mobile and desktop friendly libraries of curated tools and toolkits and a range of content suited to a range of technologies.
    Management of AMI s growing library of learning assets (including online courses tools learning modules and translated versions thereof)
    Responsible for innovation in content delivery including method approaches and innovative content generation models.
    Responsibility for management of the content production pipelines including translation video and omnichannel delivery modes supporting the ever expanding library of content in multiple languages.


  • Grow and manage the worldclass team of internal and external Facilitators and Learning Designers. Directly manage AMI s Facilitation and Design Academy Manager.
    Manage pipeline and process of external design and facilitation.
    Identify select and train new facilitators; provide ongoing support and assessment for existing facilitators
    Provide learning and facilitation guidance/expertise to AMI facilitators
    Create facilitator training manuals and supporting documents as AMI scales its blended learning offering
    Design and manage AMI s Training of Trainer and BDS Ecosystem training methodologies.
    Lead development of a structured facilitator accreditation process and manage the Facilitation and Design Academy at AMI
    Provide overall management and oversight of AMI facilitators and external Learning Design consultants.


Requirements


Skills:

  • Ability to lead senior teams. Culturally adept. Ability to communicate effectively across different levelsawith local and international teams and stakeholders. Ability to lead coach learning experts and drive progress across a team.

  • Deep knowledge of adult learning theory and how to apply these theories in the design of transformative learning experiences

  • Recent experience designing instruction for leaders including the design of multimedia training digital training materials experiential workshops and related documentation

  • Understanding of agile methodology and ability to handle multiple priorities in a very fluid working environment

  • High proficiency and productivity in G Suite tools including Google Docs Sheets and Slides etc.

  • Exhibit solid interpersonal and communication skills that enable successful internal and external interaction in a variety of modes including facetoface meetings phone calls phone conferences virtual meetings and written communication.

  • Ability to work on your own and with diverse teams

  • Willingness to engage in robust debate alongside deep respect for others

  • Absolutely rocksolid integrity

Education and Experience:

  • 5 years of related instructional design and development experience (essential)

  • 35 years of team leadership in learning context

  • Designbuild Instructional Design Instructional Training Elearning

  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial or leadership development environment (essential)

  • Masters degree or equivalent experience

  • AMI will consider candidates from any country but preference will be given to African nationals. Candidates must be willing to live in Africa Nairobi preferred and free to travel across Africa.
