Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer Site Based Facility Management Contract
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee all mechanical works as part of a sitebased facility management contract. The ideal candidate will be mechanically qualified in the UK and possess extensive experience in supervising mechanical maintenance and repair activities. This role requires strong leadership abilities technical expertise and the ability to ensure the efficient operation of mechanical systems within the facility. A full clean drivers license is required as an electric van will be provided for transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Maintenance Supervision:
- Lead and supervise all mechanical maintenance activities including HVAC systems plumbing ventilation and other mechanical equipment.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and reliability of mechanical systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of mechanical equipment to identify issues diagnose problems and recommend solutions.
- Coordinate with maintenance technicians and external contractors to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance activities.
- Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical guidance and support to the maintenance team on troubleshooting complex mechanical issues and resolving technical challenges.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices regulations and technological advancements in mechanical engineering to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance operations.
- Review and approve technical specifications drawings and proposals for mechanical installations and upgrades.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards in all mechanical maintenance activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures to mitigate potential hazards associated with mechanical systems and equipment.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols among maintenance staff and contractors.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities equipment inventory and performance metrics.
- Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities including work completed issues encountered and recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with facility management team to develop budgets forecasts and expenditure reports related to mechanical maintenance operations.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical qualification in the UK (e.g. Bachelors degree or equivalent).
- Experience in a supervisory role overseeing mechanical maintenance in a facility management or similar environment.
- Proficient knowledge of HVAC systems plumbing ventilation and other mechanical systems commonly found in commercial or industrial facilities.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team of maintenance technicians.
- Excellent problemsolving abilities and technical proficiency in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices relevant to mechanical engineering and maintenance.
