Job Description

Chief Accountant

As the Chief Accountant at Hawar Resort, you will oversee all aspects of the resort's financial management and accounting operations. Your expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting will play a crucial role in supporting the resort's strategic goals and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations: Oversee functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff: Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure accurate and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies: Establish internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements: Create reports to provide management with timely and accurate financial information for decision-making.
  • Coordinate budget development: Work with department heads to create and monitor budgets, track expenses, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage cash flow: Monitor bank balances, prepare cash forecasts, and oversee cash disbursements and receipts.
  • Ensure tax compliance: File tax returns, make payments, and liaise with auditors and tax authorities as necessary.
  • Stay updated on industry trends: Keep abreast of changes in accounting and financial regulations, incorporating new knowledge into resort operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards: Uphold confidentiality of financial information and adhere to professional codes of conduct.

Qualifications

  • Educational requirements: A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Relevant experience: Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry is necessary, with a strong understanding of hotel accounting principles and practices.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel is required, while experience with hotel management systems is advantageous.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Demonstrates excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills: Possesses strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Communication skills: Exhibits excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure: Capable of working effectively under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Flexibility in scheduling: Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the demands of the role.
