Special Education Teacher

A school district in Michigan is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. This position involves working with students who have a range of learning mental emotional and physical disabilities. As a Special Education Teacher you will design and deliver lessons geared towards the individual needs and capabilities of your students and play a critical role in helping them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the specific educational needs of each student.
  
• Use various teaching techniques and tools including technology to enhance student learning and outcomes.
  
• Collaborate with other teachers parents and professionals to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
  
• Monitor and document student progress adapting educational plans as necessary to promote effective learning.
  
• Participate in IEP meetings providing insight and updates on student progress and adjustments needed.
  
• Manage classroom behavior using effective compassionate strategies that promote respect and positive interactions.
  
• Engage in continuous professional development to ensure best practices in special education.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor s degree in Special Education or a related field; a Master s degree is preferred.
  
• Valid Michigan teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
  
• Experience working with students with disabilities is highly desirable.
  
• Strong understanding of the specific needs of students with disabilities and familiarity with applicable educational technology and software.
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students staff and families.
  
• Ability to work flexibly in a team and adapt to the diverse needs of students.
