Software Delivery Manager

A software delivery manager coordinates and manages the software development process for specific software projects. The manager operates within a software development environment in software companies or virtually any type of company with software development resources. Project planning, scheduling, and performance are part of the responsibilities. Managing a team of developers or managing specific projects with different teams may be required. Technical requirements will vary depending on the type of software produced, ranging from web-based development to database and application design.

Basic Requirements

A strong technology background is required, including experience in solution architecture, technology architecture, database design, and software application design. Management skills, including project management capabilities, are required.

Experience

The role requires min 10 years of technology development experience with min 4 years in software delivery management roles. This experience includes familiarity with software product development life cycles. Experience managing and delivering multiple projects at the same time is also required.

education

A bachelor of science degree in engineering, software engineering, science is required. A relevant master's degree will reduce experience requirements. With the advent of technical schools, certain types of technology courses may be required that are specific to the types of projects performed. Often, a project management certification from a recognized organization may be required.
