Job Description

Discipline: School Occupational Therapist

Location: Near Athens GA

Hours Per Week: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Caseload: K12th Grade Students

Start Date:School Year

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

As a School Occupational Therapist you will play a vital role in promoting independence participation and academic success of students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting assessments to evaluate students fine motor skills sensory processing visualmotor integration and activities of daily living.
  • Collaborating with teachers parents and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students occupational therapy needs.
  • Providing direct occupational therapy services to students including interventions to improve motor coordination handwriting selfcare skills and sensory regulation.
  • Designing and implementing therapeutic activities and interventions to support students functional abilities within the classroom and school environment.
  • Monitoring and documenting students progress towards goals and objectives and adjusting intervention plans as needed.
  • Providing consultation and training to school staff on strategies to support students sensory and motor needs.
  • Advocating for the inclusion of occupational therapy services within the school curriculum and promoting a positive school culture that values diversity and inclusion.


Requirements

To excel in this role candidates should meet the following qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Georgia.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or pediatric setting.
  • Strong assessment and intervention skills with a focus on evidencebased practices in occupational therapy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students families and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in occupational therapy.
  • Passion for advocating for the needs of students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
