Job Description

  • Review and evaluate the underwriting performance of underwriting team to ensure appropriate loss ratios; direct and coordinate any necessary remedial actions in timely manner.
  • Study the risk; analyze the data, collecting information to proceed for risk acceptance and rejection.
  • Monitor price adequacy for the business written.
  • Ensure that all the necessary information is collected before releasing quotes.
  • Supervise, whether the risk is properly assessed and the premium is charged accordingly.
  • Conduct an analytical review and capitalize on market opportunities by responding to tenders.
  • Negotiate policy terms and rates with clients and/ or consultants and / or brokers.
  • Evaluation of renewal submission to identify the accounts that provides the greatest opportunity for profit consistent with the business plan and corporate profit objective.
  • Exercise proper underwriting pricing and discipline to meet profitability goals, complying with underwriting guidelines, systems and procedures.
  • Ensure that the risk retained in each policy, is in line with risk appetite and as per the company strategy.
  • Coordinates with IT Department for smooth running of the automated systems and recommends updates as and when necessary.

People Management

  • Assist in setting KPIs and objectives for the underwriting team.
  • Recommend disciplinary actions
  • Participate in interviewing panels and assist in taking hiring decisions.
  • Maintain and promote staff motivation by addressing employee grievances promptly and escalating when necessary and enforcing fair and equitable compliance with gig-Kuwait policies and procedures.

Others

  • Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports as requested by management.
  • Document and maintain records of activities and process workflows.
  • Adhere to Gulf Insurance Group – Kuwait policies.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
