Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs in collaboration with parents general education teachers and other support staff.
- Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities utilizing evidencebased strategies to support their academic social and emotional growth.
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students including those who are English Language Learners (ELLs).
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress goals and individualized support strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Illinois Professional Educator License with endorsement in Special Education (LBS1).
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of special education laws regulations and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues students and families.
