Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

1.1 Scope of Responsibilities: Coordinate all Catholic Religious Education (RE) programs for the Joint Base AnacostiaBolling Chapel.

1.2 Coordinator Qualifications:

1.2.1 The Coordinator shall possess a bachelors degree in Religious Education or a minimum of five years experience as a Director/Coordinator of Religious Education in Catholic Chapels or Churches and must be able to furnish proof of such experience.

1.2.2 The coordinator shall be certified for Religious Education leadership in the Roman Catholic Church.

1.2.3 The coordinator shall have a minimum of three years experience working with worship liturgies and rites of the Roman Catholic Church.

1.2.4 The Coordinator shall possess practical skills in using Microsoft Office programs.

1.2.5 The Coordinator shall have the ability to work in and be fully conversant with the pluralistic environment of the Military Chaplaincy.

1.2.6 The Coordinator shall have the ability to multitask and manage multiple programs at once (curriculum planning volunteer management and background checks childrens church).

1.2.7 FAR Clause 52.22226 (b) (2) applies to this contract. The person providing this service shall be a Catholic in good standing.

1.3 Responsibilities: The Coordinator shall

1.3.1 Function as a team member in a pluralistic environment working with chaplains staff members and volunteers.

1.3.2 Meet weekly with the Catholic Chaplain/Priest to discuss Catholic Program priorities and responsibilities.

1.3.3 Coordinate classroom administrative and audiovisual support requirements for all RE Programs. (Note: equipment is not to be removed from chapel without authorization)

1.3.4 Plan prepare and conduct training including all necessary training materials.

1.3.5 Establish and maintain a Religious Education resource program with a broad and orderly assortment of visual aids object lessons multimedia support and general teaching aids to enhance Catholic RE effectiveness at the Chapel. Ensure that all RE curriculum meets the requirements of the

Catholic Church as mandated to the Catholic Chaplain/Priest by the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA.

1.3.6 Maintain current enrollment and attendance records for all classes including student and teacher attendance. Communicate with parents/sponsors concerning RE student absences and consult with the Catholic Chaplain/Priest about disciplinary problems.

1.3.7 Organize and implement preparation programs for the following Sacraments: Baptism First Penance First Communion & Confirmation. This is to include training sessions for parents and parents meetings.

1.3.8 Be present during RE classes and coordinate work assignments and hours for all RE classes programs and events.

1.3.9 Communicate details of current and upcoming RE sacramental and liturgical programs to the Catholic Community in writing.

1.3.10 Assist in curriculum selection coordinating and recruiting volunteers for the Chapel Ecumenical Vacation Bible School. (If program exists coordinate Childrens Liturgy of the Word program).

1.3.11 Prepare funds and facility requests to be presented to the proper chapel staff member for processing according to chapel operation instructions.

1.3.12 Assist in the development of annual resource requirement planning for both appropriated funds and Chapel Tithes and Offerings Funds (CTOF) budgets as directed by the Catholic Chaplain/Priest.

1.3.13 Ensure that all facilities are properly secured including all doors and windows following the conclusion of RE classes and other meetings/programs under the RE purview.

1.3.14 Identify prepare and submit annual curriculum order library and supply requirements for approval. Selection and ordering of annual curriculum will be coordinated with the Catholic Priest. Acquire curriculum for all Catholic chapel sponsored small group studies following the established chapel operating instructions.

1.3.15 Maintain current RE and continuity records with electronic backup that includes but not limited to: Fund Requests Facility Requests Calendars Curriculum Rosters Procedures and Training.

1.3.16 Publish annual guidance for the RE year and a calendar of events.

1.3.17 Assist in the preparation and transmission of all sacramental records to the Archdiocese for the Military Service USA and prepare and mail copies of the same and certificates to recipients and relevant dioceses.

1.3.18 Participate in the preparation of military and directed inspections.

1.3.19 The coordinator will personally perform the services describe above and will provide regular office hours on the Chapel premises. In case of vacation illness or other absences the Coordinator is responsible for payment to any substitute. The coordinator will work 1620 hours per week. A weekly in office work schedule will be negotiated with the

Catholic Priest to ensure program coordination to include weekends. Flexibility of schedule is understood and authorized upon Catholic Priest approval.

1.5 General Information:

1.5.1 The coordinator shall comply with the mandatory training required for all coordinators and be responsible for maintaining their own training records.

1.5.2 The coordinator shall follow all required Command Operating Instructions and Air Force Instructions for proper administration and care of Department of Defense resources.

1.5.3 The coordinator shall brief the Catholic Chaplain/ Priest on all planned activities and ensures compliance with pertinent health and safety codes and chapel Operating Instructions.

1.5.4 The coordinator shall submit and pass completed background check IAW DoDI 1402.05.

1.5.5 The coordinator shall submit completed background check forms IAW DoDI 1402.05 for all RE and Catholic Program volunteers and coordinators that work with children under 18 years of age.

1.5.6 The coordinator shall manage the Roman Catholic volunteer program IAW DoDI 1100.21 and Air Force Chaplain Corps policy.
