Job Description

  1. Our client is seeking a Shift Team Leader to take complete responsibility and oversight for shift operations and management at our clients factory in the Johannesburg facility. The successful candidate would be responsible for overseeing the coordination of operational resources including machinery materials and personnel to meet production goals maintain product quality and uphold environmental health and safety standards.

Responsibilities include:


  • Lead the shift team by effectively deploying resources to ensure consistent highquality production with priorities guided by the daily plan and Operations Manager taking into account individual experience line priorities and plant availability.
  • Ensure strict adherence to current legislative safety standards and internal clients safety protocols ensuring all team members are adequately trained supervised and equipped to comply with these requirements.
  • Uphold the clients manufacturing standards concerning housekeeping employee appearance hygiene PPE workforce behavior audit compliance and time management.
  • Manage and develop the shift team s performance engaging in assessment mentoring coaching and training to meet the evolving needs of the business. Organize external support as needed and regularly review team capabilities.
  • Conduct timely individual appraisals and team meetings ensuring proper documentation.
  • Guarantee production aligns with the current standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage manufacturing and operational costs within set budgets aiming for annual cost reduction.
  • Enhance production team skills by integrating routine engineering tasks into their responsibilities.
  • Foster open effective communication across all levels and departments emphasizing the importance of clear and meaningful interactions for teamwork.
  • Build and sustain teamwork with suppliers colleagues and customers continuously expanding knowledge of tooling production technology market trends and company policies.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives with team leaders attaining 6sigma greenbelt certification.



Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12/N3 or an equivalent qualification.
  • Proficiency in Mathematics and Science is preferable.
  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in an operator role.
  • Certification in Leadership and Management.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience having managed a team of approximately 10 employees.
  • Technical acumen with the ability to conduct diagnostic tests troubleshoot and resolve basic machinery issues.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in managing production lines and a comprehensive understanding of associated equipment.
  • Computer literacy is beneficial.
