Role Overview

As the PIC (Person In Control) the Shift Operations Manager will have ultimate operational H&S and site management responsibility coordinating and managing across Depot Despatch CX Collections and facilities. At any given time there will be between 2550 people on site at our depot and the Shift Operations Manager will support the Managers/Supervisors to keep these people safe and working effectively while on shift (working 4on4off). They will also work closely with the Network and People Ops teams to ensure delivery of the operational resource plan and execution across various functions and teams.

Success will be measured by our ability to hit sender SLAs manage costs and resources in line with the network plan provide a safe working environment and develop a world class team. This is a senior role that requires someone with a background in operations who is comfortable working with several variables at once making quick and educated decisions and managing priorities across several teams.

Please note that this is a shiftbased role. You will work a 4on4off pattern (4 days of work followed by 4 days off to rest and restore). Shifts are 12 hours in length rotating between 7am7pm and 12pm12am. The right candidate is comfortable with this kind of schedule and the necessary travel to and from our North Woolwich depot (London E16).


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of shift operations including Depot Despatch CX Collections and facilities ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to operational plans
  • Act as the Person In Control (PIC) with ultimate responsibility for operational health and safety and site management during shifts
  • Provide leadership and support to managers/supervisors on shift to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the team comprising 2550 individuals
  • Collaborate closely with Network and People Ops teams to execute the operational resource plan efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with sender Service Level Agreements (SLAs) while managing costs and resources in alignment with the network plan
  • Foster a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing health and safety protocols and procedures
  • Facilitate the development of team members through coaching mentoring and providing opportunities for growth
  • Measure and drive success through achieving operational targets while maintaining a safe workplace


Qualifications

  • This role would suit existing Ops managers looking for a more dynamic company with high chances of accelerated career progression previous operations and team management experience is a must
  • Ideal candidates will have spent time in a fast paced operation environment (FMCG Logistics 3PL etc.) at Supervisor/Manager level or above
  • 35 yrs with some evidence of progression (e.g. promoted from Team Lead to Supervisor in same operation)
  • No qualifications required but CPC IOSH/NEBOSH or similar would be a significant bonus
  • Strong evidence of comfort working in a fluid operating environment and comfort with uncertainty
  • Growth mindset with evidence of being a change maker (not happy with status quo hungry to take ownership able to influence people to make change stick)
  • Great people skills with ability to build rapport but not afraid to have difficult conversations when needed with courage and compassion
