Overview:
The Interventional Radiology Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting as they are responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations and interventional procedures under the direction of a radiologist. They are essential in providing highquality patient care and ensuring accurate imaging results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for procedures and explain the process to them
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment such as MRI CT scan and Xray machines
- Assist radiologists during interventional procedures and surgeries
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during imaging procedures
- Monitor patient vital signs and assess for any adverse reactions during procedures
- Position patients and adjust imaging equipment to obtain highquality images
- Follow proper protocols for radiation protection for patients and staff
- Document and maintain accurate records of procedures and patient information
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care
- Stay updated on new technologies and advancements in interventional radiology
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
- Completion of an accredited radiology technology program
- Certification in Interventional Radiography (CIIP) or similar certification
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
- Strong understanding of anatomy physiology and medical terminology
- Proficiency in operating MRI CT scan and Xray equipment
- Ability to perform interventional procedures with precision and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fastpaced environment
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures
