Overview:
The Pathology Lab Technician plays a critical role in supporting the diagnostic process by preparing and analyzing tissue samples body fluids and other specimens. As a key member of the pathology lab team this role contributes to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process specimens for analysis
- Perform various laboratory tests using automated equipment
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control and quality assurance protocols
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of tests conducted and results
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Assist pathologists in examining slides and analyzing results
- Conduct troubleshooting and maintenance of lab equipment
- Participate in lab research and development projects
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
- Proven experience working in a pathology laboratory setting
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems and data entry
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment operation
- Ability to handle and process specimens with precision and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in performing quality control procedures
- Understanding of safety and biohazard protocols
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
