Overview
The Design Engineer (Solid Works Sheet Metal) at our company plays a crucial role in the product development process utilizing SolidWorks to design and engineer sheet metal components. This role is vital in ensuring the quality and manufacturability of our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for sheet metal components using SolidWorks
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand design requirements and constraints
- Conduct design reviews and make necessary modifications based on feedback and analysis
- Develop and maintain design documentation including BOMs and engineering change orders
- Perform tolerance analysis and ensure designs meet manufacturing and assembly requirements
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes and tools
- Participate in prototype builds and provide support to resolve designrelated issues
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and costeffectiveness of designs
- Contribute to design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA) initiatives
- Stay updated on industry trends best practices and new technologies in sheet metal design
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proven experience in sheet metal design using SolidWorks
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and materials
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience with design validation methods such as FEA and CFD
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems for document and data management
- Proficiency in design standards and best practices for sheet metal components
- Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities
- Capability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost implications on design
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering highquality designs
