Job Description
This position is focused on providing IT project management services for the City of Cedar Rapids Utilities Department supporting CC&B and other programs. Principlesand practices of employee supervision. Business and technology trends. Basic understanding of common technologies such as businessapplication systems databases application design programming languagesoperating systems and current Internet technologies such as SaaS. Citypurchasing contracts and budgeting procedures. Performinga variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a differentnature Communicatingeffectively with internal and external stakeholders using both technical andnontechnical language Managing projects and deadlines Work bothindependently and in a teamoriented collaborative environment. Adapt to shiftingpriorities demands and timelines through analytical and problemsolvingcapabilities. React to projectadjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently. Be flexibleduring times of change. Readcommunication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broadspectrum of disciplines. Be persuasiveencouraging and motivating. Elicitcooperation from a wide variety of sources including upper managementclients and other departments. Defuse tensionamong project team should it arise. Bring project tosuccessful completion through political sensitivity. Express ideas viastrong written and oral communication skills. Interact withothers via strong interpersonal skills. Be adept atconducting research into projectrelated issues and products. To learnunderstand and apply new technologies Required/Desired Skills Skill Required /Desired Amount of Experience Experience in a project management capacity including all aspects of process development and execution. Required 7 Years Experience developing and managing detailed Project work plan Work Breakdown Structure and resource allocation. Required 7 Years Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science Business Administration or a related field Required 7 Years Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification or ability to achieve it within 2 years. Required 7 Years Project Management Professional (PMP) or ability to achieve it within two (2) years. Required 7 Years
