1. Taking Orders: Greet customers as they approach the counter take their orders and provide any necessary recommendations or explanations about the menu items.
2. Handling Transactions: Accurately ring up orders using the cash register or POS (Point of Sale) system accept payment (cash credit/debit cards mobile payments) and provide change if necessary.
3. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the cashier area clean and organized including wiping down the counter keeping menus tidy and ensuring that the POS system is free of clutter.
4. Assisting Customers: Answer any questions customers may have about the menu ingredients or special dietary considerations. Provide excellent customer service by being attentive and friendly.
5. Processing Orders: Relay orders to the kitchen staff or baristas ensuring that they are prepared correctly and in a timely manner.
6. Upselling and Promotions: Inform customers about any specials promotions or combo deals that the cafe may be offering and encourage them to try additional items.
7. Handling Issues: Address any customer complaints or concerns in a professional and courteous manner. If unable to resolve the issue escalate it to a manager.
8. Closing Duties: At the end of your shift reconcile cash and card transactions count the cash drawer and prepare it for the next shift.
9. Stocking Supplies: Keep track of inventory levels for items such as cups lids napkins and receipt paper and restock them as needed.
10. Adhering to Policies: Follow all company policies and procedures regarding food safety cleanliness and customer service.
