Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Battery Electrode Coating Process Engineer to assist our Product Development group in the development and execution of manufacturing of electrodes for advanced lithiumion batteries.
We are looking for individuals that are able to perform the following:
  • Weekly handson electrode coating activity and continuous improvement of our clients battery electrode processes using commercial mixing and slot die coating equipment.
  • A qualified candidate needs to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of slurry formulation mixing protocol and coating processes coupled with strong collaborative problemsolving and communication skills.
  • The position requires working in a crossfunctional team environment to ensure the successful integration of the companys unique materials into lithiumionbattery systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct electrode manufacturing according tour clients procedures and requirements.
  • Develop electrode manufacturing processes to optimize battery performance and quality.
  • Maintain slurry mixing design sheets adhere to process flow procedures execute mixing coating and post processing of anode and cathode electrodes for lithiumion battery cells.
  • Design specify install both processes and equipment for quality measurements associated with manufacturing of battery electrodes.
  • Interface with vendors and contractors to design install integrate optimize and validate manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintain and manage battery material inventories.
  • Author PFMEAs specifications work instructions statements of work training documents etc.
  • Engage and collaborate with crossfunctional teams including R&D and Cell Product Engineering.
  • Execute the development and production roadmaps for the mixing and coating development cycles.
  • Adapt Lean Six Sigma SPC and other methods to fit process need driving stability and overall systematic process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or physical sciences is required (chemistry mechanical engineering or chemical engineering preferred).
  • Experienced in common electrode coating techniques and cell manufacturing including slotdie rolltoroll coating.
  • Understanding of electrochemical processes in Lithiumion batteries and familiarity with existing battery design and manufacturing processes.
  • Successful experience in process development from concept design prototype to production is required.
  • Handson experience with instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within team.
  • Indepth knowledge of various battery chemistries (e.g. traditional Lithiumion Silicon anode) is a great plus.

Hours:

  • Temporary (34 month contract) 40 hours per week
  • Monday Friday
