- Keeping accurate records of student coursework.
- Planning and scheduling a calendar to meet regularly with advisees.
- Study necessary paths to degree attainment, depending on the discipline and educational level.
- Providing assistance to students during their application and course registration.
- Serving as a counselor for students working with difficult courses or life challenges that may interrupt degree completion.
- Facilitate written documentation upon request.
- Transfer necessary documents to different departments, inter-schools, or districts upon request.
- Effectively communicate institutional standards for commencement or graduation.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Success Center.
Qualifications For Academic Advisor
- Master’s degree in education and/or in the counseling field - Desired.
- Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple caseloads.
- Knowledge of database software, ideally functional knowledge in Microsoft Office tools and other applications.
- Strong English communication skills.
- The ability to work with a diverse group of students of different ages and ethnicity.
- Proven ability to work independently.
