WRK digital are delighted to have partnered with one of the UK's leading sports management platforms, who's software and data is used for professional (and amateur) athletes to track their performance.

The team are looking to add a Senior PHP Developer with experience developing complex web applications using PHP and Laravel with AWS and MySQL. Its a hands on role with elements of coaching and mentorship to the wider team.

They operate a sophisticated cloud (AWS) based system which includes a comprehensive CI/CD pipeline, custom CDN infrastructure to facilitate thousands of customer domains, multiple microservices to handle on-the-fly image generation & resizing, and a core database holding tens of millions of rows. You'll be instrumental in keeping the system up to date and working on new products and features.

You'll join a small and talented team of Software Developers working with a CTO. They love to experiment with the latest tools, technologies and techniques to improve their award winning platform.

Required Experience:

* Highly proficient with PHP, and ideally with the teams framework of choice - Laravel
* Experience with relational databases (MySQL and/or PostgreSQL) and ideally at least one NoSQL/timeseries database (such as MongoDB or SingleStore)
* A pragmatic attitude towards testing and confidence in writing automated tests
* Experience with AWS - ideally experience with the key product suite - EC2, S3, CloudFront, RDS
* Ability to take ownership of the entire lifecycle of a task from research and specification through development, testing and deployment
* Working knowledge of JavaScript (The team are using a mix of NodeJS, Next and React at the moment)
* API development
* High attention to detail
* Strong verbal & written communication skills

Bonus skills:
* Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g. Go)
* Advanced knowledge of a JavaScript framework (e.g. React, Vue, Angular)
* Deeper experience with Amazon Web Services (e.g. Infrastructure as Code via CloudFormation or Terraform)

A majority of the development team are working remote first and there is a modern work space in Leeds (with free parking) for anyone keen to work in an office. Even if remote working there will be occasional time onsite with the business in Leeds so you must be UK based.

You'll be supported with structured training and regular 1-2-1's with your line manager to review progress and provide support. Its a friendly, welcoming and supportive culture with opportunities to progress.
