Reporting to the Head of Cameras, the camera operator will work across a range of factual, documentary, current affairs and lifestyle television programs. He/she will be responsible for capturing high quality filming and visual story telling. Understanding the program editorial story they will work closely with the producers and director to convey they story to the target audience in the most creative and technical way.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- The camera operator is responsible for the look, feel and technical aspects of operating the camera, mainly on location.
- Working closely with the senior and series producers, the producers and directors.
- Maybe call upon to work with the assistant producers.
OTHER DUTIES
- Work with producers and directors to determine all aspects of filming.
- Work closely with the Director of Photography and other team members to ensure that the intended shots are captured precisely.
- Provide practical and creative input to scene planning.
- Select, assemble, and position equipment according to the editorial content.
- Prepare cameras and test angles or camera movements.
- Shoot scenes according to requirements.
- Capture quality footage from a fixed or moving position.
- Collaborate with make-up artists, lighting and sound staff to produce the best final effect.
- Resolve technical or practical issues.
