Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Assistant Project Manager

Division/Department: Architecture

Reports to: Senior Project Manager

Fulltime

Parttime

Exempt

Nonexempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains single point accountability for project work with an increased emphasis on client landlord building departments contractor and vendor interaction and project documentation.
• Monitors multiple projects within the same account.
• Assists Project Manager in the management of account’s profitability.
• Capable of generating space layouts for retail clients.
• Assists PM in maintaining strong client relationships project timelines manpower scheduling and billings.
• Assists PM in managing administrative tasks such as review of timesheets invoices and change orders.
• Reviews a set of construction documents and prepares feedback to junior staff.
• Assist PM with field surveys and survey input work and when required complete field surveys independently.
• Prepares project designs and plans using CAD software and equipment.
• A general understanding of energy calculations and the impact of the projects.
• Provides assistance if needed within the team to meet the account needs including overtime if required.
• The ability to work with interpret and apply National and Local Codes.
• Working within a team to achieve team goals.
• Sends correspondence to clients as required.
• 10% Travel time may be required.
• LEED Accreditation a plus but not required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Skills and Abilities:

• Requires a high level of creativity in solving design and construction issues.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously at varying stages with little supervision.
• Strong knowledge of architectural assemblies mechanical electrical & plumbing components and systems.
• Basic understanding of management and administrative functions such as change orders account profitability timesheets project correspondence and scope of contract work.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation.
• Demonstrates that the client is comfortable working with them with continuing interaction.
• Ability to multitask and establish priorities.
• Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
• Exhibits initiative responsibility flexibility and leadership.
• Ability to audit RFP’s for scope services and cost.
• Possess thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures.
• Ability to develop and manipulate construction details as required for the project.
• A strong knowledge of drafting using AutoCAD (office is currently using 2018) to complete project requirements.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients regulatory agencies or members of the business and general community at large.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Minimum five (5) year Bachelor’s in Architecture or a four (4) year degree in Architecture or Design with one (1) year of experience performing site surveys and completing site observations with five (5) years of professional experience or ten (10) years of comparable experience with some college courses.
• Exceptions will be reviewed by management.
