Job Description

The post holder will be responsible for managing the day to day activities within the Ejection Seat Component MRO Workshop(s).


Responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities are undertaken in accordance with all the requirements of the regulatory approval and the issued Statement of Work/Condition of Supply in order to assure the output of airworthy aircraft components.


At this level demonstrates a high level of understanding of tactical performance management and the requirement for continuous improvement. Demonstrates high levels of leadership skills and is an experienced people manager managing multidisciplinary and multiskilled teams.


Will be responsible for the operational output of the Ejection Seat Component MRO Workshop under their control in line with agreed customer requirements. Post holder will also have responsibilities for the cost and schedule adherence of the component maintenance activities.



Requirements


Generic Areas of Responsibility Team Leader

  • Performance indicators Ensure the effective management of Part 145 activities by setting delivery targets monitoring progress and developing performance improvement programmes. Prioritises activities within/across teams to maximise efficiency. Represents the Maintenance Manager at management reviews where necessary. Responsible for the assessment of escalated issues for any impact on Continuing Airworthiness and generating effective resolution or sponsoring escalation to management as appropriate

  • Completion of activities Ensure all Part 145 activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT / paper based). Ensure all Part 145 activities are performed by suitably qualified experienced and authorised personnel. Ensure the integration of Part 145 activity within the business including the engagement of key stakeholders at all stages of the process. Provide support and guidance to the team(s).

  • Procedure/standards Manage the Part 145 team(s) compliance with the Part 145 Exposition its associated procedures and standards and any other Company procedures and standards as applicable. Identify propose and implement change as required whilst ensuring compliance.

  • Safety Management System Promote the application of Human Factors Error Management Risk Management and Safety Assurance within the Part 145 team(s) together with the proactive analysis mitigation and management of Hazards.

  • Management System Assurance Ensure Part 145 team(s) activities are compliant with the AM&S Governance and Assurance framework. Ensure Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits are supported by Part 145 personnel and integrated within/across teams. Manage the response to audit findings in a timely and appropriate manner and provide information into the relevant reviews. Generate and implement effective improvements within/across teams to overcome any noncompliance and monitor effectiveness.

  • Statutory / Regulatory & Legislative requirements Able to demonstrate a good understanding and application of the relevant Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory framework and ensure any Regulatorydriven changes are implemented within the Part 145 team(s) activities. Ensure compliance with all other requirements e.g. ITAR EaPW ISO etc

  • Contractual Requirements Ensure compliance with all applicable contractual requirements e.g. through support to contract reviews and ensure any changes are implemented into the Part 145 activities as appropriate.

Areas of Responsibility Specific to Role Capability

  • Maintaining airworthiness by resolving faults and maintenance issues including configuration management and by certifying the serviceability (or otherwise) of aircraft components and the signing of appropriate certifying documentation

  • Ensure that all contracted maintenance has been properly carried out in accordance with the Statement of Work using the AMC documentation set as defined within the current Maintenance Organisation Exposition using the latest approved technical information.

  • Ensuring cost and schedule adherence to the Workshop plans through Earned Value Management. Resolve any issues or escalate as required. Report on any impact to the wider delivery programme.

  • Maintaining the Component Maintenance Capability List for the Workshop iaw MOE AMC s. Ensure that ONLY items declared on the Capability list are worked on in the workshops.

  • Manage shift and resource plans to ensure agreed delivery targets can be accomplished within the requirements of the regulatory framework by ensuring that staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them within the shift plan.
  • Ensure personal & teams task authorisation for working on aircraft components in accordance with AMC requirements are maintained

  • Responsible for the workplace standards in the workshop environment to ensure all MAI SHE and workplace policies are adhered to and maintained. Areas for improvement are identified highlighted and actioned.

  • Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets in the short to medium term through the supervision of others. Progress reporting against delivery targets to management. Applying the relevant analytical skills for the tactical evaluation and resolution of operational problems utilising the required competent personnel and the appropriate approved data

  • May hold local authorisations and competency certifications as authorised by the Maintenance Manager. May have Certification privilege issued in accordance with MOE and associated AMC s

  • Provide guidance and leadership to team members through on the job training and formal assessment processes. Demonstrates sound and comprehensive communication and people management skills in order to exchange complicated information.

  • Responsible for ensuring robust adherence to the Service Safety Hazard controls relating to the contributory causes to the output of incorrectly/incompletely maintained components

  • Undertake fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards and for found faults during maintenance.

  • Ability to scope and carry out independent and vital inspections.

  • Undertake support tasks within the Aircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE and AMC procedures (e.g. oversight checks control of tooling / test equipment etc.)


Qualifications
  • In depth knowledge of the workings of Ejection Seat Maintenance and the importance of regulation and compliance with procedures in a safety critical environment
  • 5 years practical experience applying aviation safety standards and operating practices.
  • 2 years relevant work experience as an Operator within the aircraft maintenance component environment.
  • Excellent planning and expediting knowledge and skills and can demonstrate good experience and planning systems.
  • Requires good IT literacy skills and knowledge of Digital maintenance documents and ERP systems.
  • This person would be seen as a competent individual in component maintenance activities be able to support the processes propose improvements and manage those improvements into the daytoday running of the operation.
  • Must have a working knowledge of ITAR/EAR regulations and of Classified equipment.
  • Experience leading a team in a maintenance operation working independently and coaching maintenance professionals.
  • Driving License (UK)
  • NVQ 3 Award in aircraft maintenance or its equivalent is desirable but not essential.
