Transmission Manufacturing Engineer

The transmission manufacturing engineer will work with and lead DREs to relaunch an outofproduction transmission to meet service demand. The goal for the position is to work with all external suppliers to resolve their manufacturing related issues.

The ideal candidate understands the manufacturing process of automatic transmission components Engineering Change Notice creation PPAP/APQP metrics and Engineering Drawing interpretation. This position requires a team player that works well with colleagues and leads DREs to relaunch as quickly as possible.

Successful candidates will be required to:

Experience in automatic transmission component manufacturing experience casting machining heat treat welding processes.

Have experience working with external suppliers to resolve manufacturing issue to provide ontime delivery of the components.

Understand engineering aspects of pastmodel parts such as design specifications and materials to implement changes without affecting original design intent.

Manage Engineering aspects of supplier submitted Part Deviation requests.

Identify Validation requirements for service parts changes track testing progress and approve test results.

Create Design Work Requests to release Models and Drawings for service parts.

Approve Engineering documents from suppliers PPAP submissions such as DVPR & DFMEA.

Interface with Material Engineering to approve service parts material deviation requests.

Create long term storage (LTS) solutions as necessary.

***HYBRID ROLE***

5 years transmission manufacturing experience is required.

Transmission design and release engineering process engineering is preferred.

Ability to lead a team of DREs to relaunch of an automatic transmission. Have frequent meetings to assess progress and report issues concerns roadblocks to management for resolution.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical

Experience managing several simultaneous projects taking 6 9 months thru many implementation requirements.

Microsoft Office proficiency.

Ability to interpret Engineering Drawings (GD&T Knowledge preferred but not required).

Knowledgeable in Teamcenter An understanding of PPAP/APQP metrics a plus.
