Job Description

Please Note:
  • No Relocation Assistance Provided (Need only local candidate).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveyors.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the overall results of the branch office. This position manages all land surveyors project managers field coordinator and survey/CADD technicians located in that branch. S/he manages the daytodayoperations including proposals/estimates workload and distribution and invoicing. The office manager is required to work closely with the project managers to transition the project seamlessly from one phase to the next. This position must also be able to perform all the duties and responsibilities of a land surveyor and project manager. The Office Manager is highly organized and able to multitask. This work requires considerable judgment and tact when coordinating necessary procedures with management marketing and administration.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Work assignments may vary depending on the offices needs and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the manager.)

  • Responsible for maintaining clear and timely communications professionalism and morale throughout the branch office. Ensures timely reports of office status to main office.
  • Provides leadership to staff and project team members; establishes clear performance standards motivates and obtains cooperation by providing effective and timely feedback for staff and team member s performance.
  • Contributes to the financial growth by cost effective operations of branch office.
  • Ensures effective project management by allocating manpower and resources for work in the branch office to be completed on time within budget and meeting quality control guidelines. This includes ensuring that employees in the branch office are productively employed to the maximum extent practical and that all work performed is profitable.
  • Ensures continued development of self and staff capabilities for the branch office through programs which enhance technical management and communication skills.
  • Prepares proposals for work to be performed by the branch office. Reviews and recommends contracts for signature to management. Ensures all contracts for the branch office are negotiated to provide maximum profitability consistent with overall corporate objectives. Approves all project schedules and contract budgets for the branch office. Ensures contract budgets are met and estimates are complete and updated as conditions change. Monitors projects profitability.
  • Signs off on all plans reports and other work products generated by the branch office which require a duly authorized signature. Ensure limited liability by staying alert to legal implications related to the branch office.
  • Responsible for maintaining client relationships and aiding business development manager in the development of prospective clients in their geographic market.
  • Responsible for building and enhancing the corporate image by active participation in appropriate organizations and maintains significant contact with current and potential clients.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Autocad word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Contributes to the overall team efforts by completing other duties as assigned.


Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Knowledge of:

  • AutoCAD with Civil 3D Trimble (TBC and TGO) and Topcon (Civil Suite SurvCE) capabilities desirable;
  • Principles and techniques of employee supervision training and evaluation;
  • PMI Rules and Personnel Policies/Procedures.
  • PMI DrugFree Workplace Policy
  • PMI Safety Policies and Procedures
  • PMI Hiring and Firing Procedures

Skilled in:

  • Thorough knowledge of federal state and municipal regulations codes and specifications;
  • Knowledge of Virginia s Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM);
  • Performing mathematical calculations requiring probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of algebra geometry and trigonometry
  • Interpreting construction plans and specifications maps plats and legal descriptions;
  • Communicating both orally and in writing for effective interface with clients contractors staff and management;
  • Directing supervising training and evaluating performance of assigned staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveyors.
  • A professional land surveyors license is required. Failure to obtain/maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • PMI has offices in different geographical locations. We workshare which may mean temporary assignments to other offices projects that in turn may require travel. While we make every attempt to balance individuals personal schedules this travel may be unexpected and require weekend stays. This position requires up to 10% travel time outside of area and overnight. The travel may be for workrelated duties or training.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licenses and Certificates: All positions require a valid Drivers license at the time of application/promotion. Failure to obtain/maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • All positions require the ability to work outdoors in extremes of heat cold and inclement weather with exposure to dust dirt wind construction activities and materials and to traverse rough terrain on foot.
  • All positions may encounter harmful/poisonous wildlife and plant materials.
  • All positions lift 25 pounds frequently and regularly lifts up to 50 pounds.

Basic Requirements and Skills High School Diploma or GED Degree in related field preferrerd Certification from an accredited CAD program preferred High Technical aptitude At least 1 year experience with security and fire systems Must be able to obtain specified license/certifications to perform work in the security/fire alarm industry according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the State in which the branch operates. Valid driver s license and good driving record. Must understand and use battery drop and voltage drop calculation software. Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints and project specifications, fire codes and/or government regulations Strong mathematical and problem solving skills
