Job Description

Please Note:
  • This position is an inoffice position from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some ability for flexible scheduling and occasional work from home potential.
  • Relocation Assistance: No Relo this needs to be a candidate in the Western Suburbs of Chicago or slightly west of Geneva Illinois (Kendall County DeKalb County). No one in the city.

We are seeking an experienced plaintiff s personal injury paralegal to join our team. As a litigation paralegal you will work directly with the supervising litigation partner be expected to proactively perform case tasks with minimal instruction and maintain significant oversight over a dedicated case load of 40 to 50 injury cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Draft routine legal documents for review and use by attorneys.
  • Draft settlement demands.
  • Draft complaints answers to affirmative defenses and other pleadings.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses.
  • Critically review discovery responses records and other evidence.
  • Consistently communicate with clients.
  • Intake and evaluate potential personal injury clients.
  • Work to obtain evidence including medical records medical bills wage information police reports witness statements and more.
  • Review and summarize medical records and bills.
  • Maintain case and firm calendars.
  • Assist with deposition preparation and exhibit organization.
  • Organize evidence for trial.
  • Assist with selection of and coordination with expert witnesses.
  • Prepare and file court documents in state and/or federal courts.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience as a paralegal in a personal injury firm.
  • Experience with efiling process in Illinois.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks at once.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
