- Relocation Assistance: No Relo this needs to be a candidate in the Western Suburbs of Chicago or slightly west of Geneva Illinois (Kendall County DeKalb County). No one in the city.
We are seeking an experienced plaintiff s personal injury paralegal to join our team. As a litigation paralegal you will work directly with the supervising litigation partner be expected to proactively perform case tasks with minimal instruction and maintain significant oversight over a dedicated case load of 40 to 50 injury cases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft routine legal documents for review and use by attorneys.
- Draft settlement demands.
- Draft complaints answers to affirmative defenses and other pleadings.
- Draft discovery requests and responses.
- Critically review discovery responses records and other evidence.
- Consistently communicate with clients.
- Intake and evaluate potential personal injury clients.
- Work to obtain evidence including medical records medical bills wage information police reports witness statements and more.
- Review and summarize medical records and bills.
- Maintain case and firm calendars.
- Assist with deposition preparation and exhibit organization.
- Organize evidence for trial.
- Assist with selection of and coordination with expert witnesses.
- Prepare and file court documents in state and/or federal courts.
Requirements
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience as a paralegal in a personal injury firm.
- Experience with efiling process in Illinois.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks at once.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
