Job Description

Our client is a growing shipping MNC with offices worldwide and solid client base. To support the growth strategy and its expansion in Japan our client is hiring a

Senior Business Development Manager

(based in Tokyo Japan)

Since this role will require travelling within Japan the position can be based in any city in Japan.

ORGANIZATION:

Reporting to the Head of Business you will be responsible to grow the business in Japan and increase the market share by getting new ships under technical management and vessel supervision during new building or crew management. Your key focus will be to develop new business opportunities within the market with the objective being to improve and grow the organizations market and brand position in Japan.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Business Development: Acquire new customers manage and develop existing accounts and drive growth in the market. Mapping the market for opportunities establishing a network and active prospecting to build business are core to the role.
  • Sales and Marketing: Monitor the market developments support marketing plans and strategies to significantly augment market share in the region. Localize sales cycle policies and process for the country.
  • Key Account Management: Manage Key Account relationships and be responsible for promoting positive relations with stakeholders.
  • Strategy management Budgeting and Forecast: Develop growth and longterm strategy for Japan market. Assist in the budget planning process and forecasting in close coordination with the management team and translate country sales agenda into bottom line results.

Requirements

  • You have a university degree (engineering or business administration)
  • You have a strong and successful business development experience of at least 7 years in the marine/shipping industry.
  • You have solid network with ship owners (Tankers Containers Bulk Carriers Gas Tankers) in Japan.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to influence all levels of stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial and a team player you can work autonomously as well as collaborate closely with the technical and country sales teams within the region.
  • As a talented negotiator you can build and sell solutions to demanding customers with solid commercial agility.
  • You must be result oriented and have a liking to work independently without daytoday supervision or support.
  • Good communication is a must since you will work in the local market and with an international team in the region.
