Job Description
The LPN assists in the day to day functions within the campus First Aid Center as well as providing personcentered education to students to promote individual independence. The LPN reports to the First Aid Center RN and is responsible for performing nursing tasks such as medication observation treatments documentation within the students health record and providing care to individuals with physical developmental and intellectual disabilities.
The regular schedule for the full time LPN is Monday through Friday 1pm 9pm (7.5 hours of work with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break)
The LPN reports to the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center on a schedule that includes nights and possibly weekends.
Responsibilities:
Assesses students at the First Aid Center with a triage approach
Records vital signs
Observes students selfadministering medications and documents progress
Oversees the medication observation process
Performs treatments as ordered by providers
Responds to medical emergencies on campus
Documents essential findings in the students medical record
Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary team
Attends meetings as requested
Adheres to established protocols and procedures
Works with a variety of students who have physical mental and developmental disabilities
Administers nursing care in a schoolbased setting
Manages supplies and inventory in a fiscally responsible way
Possesses the ability to initiate tasks autonomously when needed
Is on time for shifts and reliable
Presents to customers in a cheerful positive manner
Assists with ADLs as needed
Possesses knowledge of adaptive equipment
Qualifications:
Currently licensed as a practical nurse in the state of TN
Possesses knowledge of basic laboratory practices
Effective communication and listening skills
Ability to provide clear concise information in a classroom setting
Basic knowledge f electronic data usage
Must have exceptional customer service skills
Basic skills using Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint and Outlook)
***This position is an ongoing need with no planned end date. The duration on this requisition is listed through 6/30/24 due to it being the end of the fiscal year and I will submit a request for it to continue at that time.
