Stick SMAW Welder

Trevor Frances Recruitment is representing a client in the steel fabrication and welding industry. We are seeking an ambitious Stick (SMAW) Welder to join their team.

Responsibilities:

Select measure cut and join metals to specifications.

Prepare metals and surfaces for safe and effective assemblage.

Interpret specifications and blueprints accurately.

Ability to travel to various job sites.

Train welding apprentices and mentor recruits.

Regularly clean and inspect welding equipment and tools.

Operate machinery to transport materials to welding worksites.

Determine correct gas ratios.

Test the strength of each join during and after project completion.

Diagnose and troubleshoot issues.

Liaise with supervisors report any issues and make suggestions for improvement.

Qualifications:

5 years of experience in a similar role preferred.

Working at Heights WHMIS Fall Arrest and Safe Climbing Certificates.

Valid G license.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Reliable selfmotivated and goaloriented.

Strong team player with an ability to work independently.

Solid ability to read blueprints and engineered drawings.

Strong mathematical skills.

Ability to learn apply and adapt quickly.

Proven ability to problemsolve in a fastpaced environment.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Sound knowledge of welding safety and a safety mindset.

Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Ability to teach is an asset.

A willingness to learn and work overtime.
