We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our team on a temporary basis for a 48 week role. As a Senior Data Scientist you will play a crucial role in enhancing our machine learning models to perform well on data collected via a new method (method S) which currently poses a challenge due to its distinct characteristics. The company is based in San Diego CA so the ability to come into the office is a plus but not required. The ability to work PST is a requirement.

Responsibilities:

• Data Analysis and Preprocessing:
  
• Work with a labeled dataset containing numeric (continuous) features and binary labels.
  
• Understand the nuances of data collected using two different methods (K and S).
  
• Address any data quality issues and preprocess the features appropriately.
  
• Model Development and Optimization:
  
• Build robust machine learning models that perform well on both method K and method S data points.
  
• Leverage transfer learning techniques to finetune models trained on method K data for improved performance on method S data.
  
• Evaluate model performance across various specificity levels.
  
• Handle imbalanced datasets and identify optimal thresholds for specificity.
  
• Deployment and Monitoring:
  
• Deploy the trained models on Azure Machine Learning.
  
• Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate models into production systems.
  
• Monitor model performance and make necessary adjustments as needed.
  

Requirements

Requirements:

1. Experience:

o 3 years of handson experience developing supervised machine learning models.

o 3 years of practical experience with Azure Cloud Services.

o Proficiency in Python including libraries such as pandas scikitlearn and sklearn.Pipeline.

2. Modeling Skills:

o Strong background in binary classification models.

o Familiarity with transfer learning techniques (e.g. Huggingface transformers).

o Deep learning experience preferably with PyTorch (PyTorch scikitlearn skorch).

3. Data Handling:

o Ability to work with noisy numerical features.

o Prior experience training supervised ML models on challenging datasets.

4. Deployment and Monitoring:

o Proficiency in deploying and managing ML models on Azure Cloud Services (e.g. using MLFlow).

5. Bonus Points:

o Knowledge of data augmentation techniques (e.g. SMOTE).
