Destinus is an aerospace technology company founded under the belief that in the future distance shouldnt matter at all. Moving at the border of Space our hydrogenpowered vehicles are ten times faster than conventional aircrafts providing the justintime backbone for logistics ecommerce and supply chain companies who cant wait. You are a master student in aerospace engineering that has a good knowledge of flight mechanics aerodynamics and aircraft design. Correct understanding of the fundamentals in aircraft design is important when joining the Destinus engineering team. You are fascinated by how aircraft work and you are a good programmer that is comfortable in both Windows and Linux. The design choices made in different types of aircraft from subsonic gliders to supersonic fighters are interesting to you. For at least some aircraft you can explain why those are designed in a certain way.
Tasks
You will assist aircraft engineers at Destinus S.L. in Tres Cantos Madrid with aircraft concept design for unmanned arial vehicles (UAV). Your tasks include the dimensioning of aircraft and the selection of their parts and subsystems. You are capable of quickly analyzing aircraft concepts to determine if they can be realized and if they can meet performance requirements. Design and Development:
- Aircraft & aerodynamic modeling in OpenVSP.
- Trajectory and mission performance in SUAVE.
- Basic optimization: weight and fuel minimization.
- Estimating the sensitivity to design parameters.
Requirements
- Clear technical reporting.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Fast learner good in mathematics and physics.
- Experience with OpenVSP and/or SUAVE software.
- Python scripting (numpy scipy matplotlib pandas)
- Aircraft design flight mechanics aerodynamics and subsystems.
Optional skills:
- MATLAB scripting other programming languages.
- CFD fluid modeling using StarCCM or similar.
The duration of the project is approximately 3 to 6 months and can be extended if good performance has been demonstrated
