Senior Technical Specialist

Job Summary:

Is responsible to and receives direction from the supervisor staff consultants and laboratory

management team.

Works cooperatively with internal and external customers coworkers supervisor as well as other work units.

Key functions include:

Works with the Technical Specialist II Technical Specialist Coordinator and the laboratory management

team to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory including operation maintenance.

Troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays.

Validates and documents operational changes using the test life cycle process (TLCP).

Provides direction for operational workflow and serves as an expert resource for the work unit.

Completes other projects or assignments as assigned and serves as an expert resource for laboratory technologists.

Required Skills & Experience:

Operates maintains and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and assays.

Performs and supports activities that contribute to the overall management of the

laboratory.

Provides IM support for laboratory and clinical laboratory technologists.

Required Education:

Bachelors degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS) medical technology (MT) chemistry or biological science from an accredited institution.

OR

Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS.

In histopathology or nontesting laboratories a bachelors degree with laboratory certification if applicable.

A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.

Two years of relevant laboratory experience required.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
