Job Opportunity: Mariachi Instructors at Whittier School District

Are you passionate about mariachi music and love teaching Whittier School District is currently seeking a team of experienced Mariachi Instructors to join us. This is a unique opportunity to share your skills and passion with young minds fostering their appreciation for music and culture.

Your Role:
As part of our Mariachi Instructor team you will be responsible for creating and facilitating academic and recreational enrichment for two mariachi ensembles one for beginner students and another for more advanced learners.

What Were Looking For:

• Experience in music particularly in Mariachi
• At least six months of experience working with groups of 10 or more students in a classroom afterschool or recreational setting
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with children of all ages and backgrounds
• Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting) TB test and TDap test
• Reliable transportation

Your Duties Will Include:

• Organizing and directing activities to meet the requirements of the District and the Fine Arts Program
• Teaching music appreciation harmony and explorations in music
• Managing and maintaining a safe and productive learning environment
• Organizing rehearsal time effectively
• Controlling the storage and use of schoolowned music department property
• Arranging for repair of instruments as needed
• Maintaining inventory records
• Evaluating each pupils musical growth and performance
• Planning rehearsing and directing pupils in musical programs and performances for the community
• Communicating effectively with arts coordinator students parents and staff
