Job Description
Join a renowned healthcare institution as we lead the way in laboratory testing for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Our cuttingedge client is looking for a Clinical Lab Technologist for their Division of Clinical Pathology utilizes advanced computer technology and stateoftheart automated equipment across multiple sites serving various healthcare facilities.
Responsibilities: Utilize tissue processing equipment to create paraffin blocks Embed pathology specimens for comprehensive layer examination Employ a rotary microtome for precise cutting of pathology specimens Conduct routine Hematoxylin Eosin staining for tissue section visibility Perform specialized stain procedures (GMS AFB PAS) for organism or tissue element identification Execute enzyme histochemistry (leder esterase) Enter and update orders on LISA for billing special stains Label and sign out slides to ensure accurate case distribution Utilize manual and automated cover slipper to prevent water or air bubble under coverslip Conduct quality control on routine work to maintain high laboratory standards Record equipment maintenance for proper operation Prepare solutions for correct histological processing Process requests from pathology residents and attendings to ensure completion of work orders Assist in Immunohistochemistry procedures to identify antigens File paraffin blocks and slides Prioritize duties manage tissue handling and oversee case signouts Troubleshoot technical procedures as needed Perform other departmental duties as required
Requirements
- Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor s degree in a physical science; medical technology preferred
- New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required
- At least 2 years of experience in histological procedures
- Proficient in operating equipment such as:
- Rotary microtome
- pH meter
- Automated cover slipper
- Embedding center
- Tissue processor
- Water bath
- Cryoplate
- Incubator oven

The displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential experience education or other relevant factors.
