Job Description
Design Engineer supporting senior engineer in development of alternate fuel low pressure fuel system. System level specification development driving component selection and design collaboration with suppliers. Component procurement and validation to support system level testing and validation. Components include fuel priming and transfer pumps valves filter bases and filters some fuel lines and pressure sensors. Knowledge of diesel and alternative preferred.
Positions Contributions to Work Group:
- NTI/NPI program developing alternate fuel low pressure fuel system.
- Overall team has responsibility for all LPSD (large engine) low pressure fuel systems with system responsibility to move fuel from tank to high pressure system at the right time temp pressure and cleanliness level.
- Team consists of Project Specialist two SME Senior Design engineers a Test Specialist reporting to Engineering Manager. This position will assist one Senior Design Engineer on Alt fuel related projects.
Typical task breakdown:
- Project management and action item tracking
- Print creation coordination and print quality oversite.
- Supplier communication and coordination
- Specification understanding for validation planning.
Interaction with team:
- Daily communication with mentor and extended team on action items
- Written communication via email and IM
- Inperson meetings for collaboration
- Lab collaboration for test coordination
Work environment:
- Mostly office with up to 25% test lab
- Business casual with nice jeans and polo or dress shirt
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
Technical Skills (Required)
- Print reading
- New Product Introduction and Validation
- Pump and fluid flow understanding

- Familiarity with Caterpillar systems for NPI and prints
- Diesel and alternative fuels
