Job Description
A growing and innovative multi-disciplined engineering firm is looking to add a Structural Department Manager for their Detroit team!
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Project Managers to provide appropriate resources to successfully execute projects
- Establish discipline specific work plans/estimates to complete for department staff assigned projects
- Oversee production of work product to ensure client requirements and company standards are met
- Supervise projects and staff to ensure performance metrics and goals are met
- Frequent client communication
- Provide technical support to team
- Assist Human Resources with recruitment/training of staff
- Maintain staffing records to maximize staffing and department utilization
- Perform staff management and annual staff reviews
- Assist with business development efforts including preparing and presenting presentations
- Participate in trade organizations as a representative of the company
- Execute company QA/QC procedures
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred
- 8+ years of structural design and project management experience in consulting engineering
- PE License preferred
- Experience designing Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects
- Experience in supervising staff, project management, project communication, and client management
- Extensive knowledge of building codes and standard construction practices
- Experience addressing construction issues with contractors
- Working knowledge of design/analysis software (Revit, AutoCAD, RISA, ADAPT)
