Job Description

Were looking for a Policy Manager for our client New Voices for Reproductive Justice. This position may be located anywhere in Pennsylvania or Ohio.

About

New Voices for Reproductive Justice (New Voices) is a leader in the Reproductive Justice movement. With nearly two decades of experience in identitybased and issuebased leadership development community engagement and organizing and state and federallevel policy advocacy New Voices is the first Reproductive Justice organization in Pennsylvania and the first and only in Ohio. Our mission is to advocate for Black Women femmes and girls in Pennsylvania and Ohio through community organizing leadership development and voter engagement. Our work is firmly rooted in the Reproductive Justice framework and our programming reflects our mission focusing on core issues including voter engagement abortion access and environmental justice.

Position Summary

The Policy Manager will develop and implement New Voices Policy and Advocacy strategy and portfolio for Pennsylvania and Ohio visioned through a Reproductive Justice lens with an emphasis on our key cities of Cleveland Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The Policy Manager will work crossfunctionally to iterate New Voices strategy and position on key issue areas. This work will include but is not limited to partnering crossfunctionally to educate New Voices staff and constituents via digital media traditional communications and teachins engaging relevant stakeholders in our mission and mobilizing coalitions and community members via issuebased campaigns and messaging. This position will sit on New Voices Public Education team and has a primary objective of building community power through the creation and dissemination of robust and relevant political and civic education and resources to our staff and core constituency Black women young people and genderexpansive folx. We are looking for:

  • A strong collaborator who is passionate about utilizing policy to inform community powerbuilding by resourcing and educating Black women young people and genderexpansive individuals.
  • A programbuilder who is eager to develop and implement a policy strategy from the bottom up utilizing internal community survey data and research as a foundation.
  • A relationship builder who is eager to cultivate relationships with allied national state and local policymakers.
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator who can speak publicly and represent New Voices draft policyrelated documents and talking points complete briefings and briefs draft policy recommendations and prepare staff and leadership for policy and advocacyrelated speaking engagements and testimony.
  • Someone who is a passionate civic educator who wants to utilize their knowledge and expertise to partner crossorganizationally to develop educational materials digital content and resources for New Voices and our constituency.
  • Experience tracking policy and advocacyrelated impact through the capture of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Experience managing a policy and advocacy portfolio for a nonprofit organization and experience with a justicecentered organization or entity is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize policy updates at the national local and state levels to steer the direction of organizational policy engagement on key Reproductive Justice issues and educate our constituency.


Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent in a related field such as Public Policy or Administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience is required; a master s degree is preferred.
  • Strategic innovative thinker with superb oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred experience working in the following areas: Social Justice Reproductive Justice Human Rights Black Womens Health Leadership Development Community Organizing Policy Advocacy Culture Change and/or Voter Engagement.
  • 57 years experience in federal and/or state policy advocacy legislative advocacy lobbying and federal state and local policymaker engagement required.
  • Direct knowledge of social justice policy advocacy policy advocacy strategy planning policy research and analysis policymaker engagement policy organizing or rapid response mobilization and policy messaging.
  • Innovative resultsdriven energetic and able to maintain grace under fire.
  • Exhibits the ability to work independently and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Must be reliable organized creative flexible collaborative resourceful and able to multitask.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office experience with CRM systems preferred.
