In this role the candidate shall have experience designing simple to complex industrial tools dies gauges drill & assembly jigs fixtures machine attachments and equipment required for production or experimental use considering such factors as accessibility economy mobility and performance requirements. In addition the candidate is expected to be familiar with current fabrication/machine shop practices to provide guidance to engineers for design manufacturability and drawing clarity. This person shall be able to conceptualize these designs in 3D detail the CAD model and detail the drawings for fabrication. These drawings shall be properly laid out using views and dimensions that are in compliance with ASME Y14.15 standards. While being the principle contributor and/or leader of a task you shall work with internal/external customers and colleagues to ensure that the design meets the customer needs.
Core Competencies:
A qualified candidate is expected to have experience examining and releasing assembly tooling drawings and related documents for soundness efficiency and simplicity in design;
completeness and dimensional accuracy;
correctness of materials and processes;
conformity to design/drafting standards (e.g. GD&T) design specifications and practicability;
and economy of fabrication assembly and installation.
Experience with industry standard aerospace 3D modeling tools including NX & CATIA
Knowledge of manufacturing methods & fabrication processes
Able to communicate with various levels of leadership must be able to coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems and must work well either in a team or independently with limited guidance
