- Conduct thorough patient assessments to diagnose musculoskeletal conditions.
- Obtain and review patients medical histories.
- Perform physical examinations including testing joint function and range of motion.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as Xrays CT scans MRI scans and blood tests to aid in diagnosis.
- Analyze test results to determine the nature and extent of musculoskeletal disorders.
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans based on the diagnosis considering both surgical and nonsurgical interventions.
- Educate patients about their conditions and discuss treatment options potential risks and benefits.
- Prescribe medications physical therapy and other nonsurgical treatments.
- Monitor and adjust nonsurgical interventions based on patient response.
- Oversee postoperative care including monitoring patients for complications.
- Collaborate with physical therapists to develop rehabilitation plans for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Respond to orthopedic emergencies such as fractures and dislocations providing timely and appropriate intervention.
