We take pride in knowing that our employees and new recruits share our values and we like to think that everyone who chooses to collaborate with us brings this CARECHIP with them.Position Summary The Shire of Carnarvon is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Arts and Culture Officer to support and actively participate in the Shires Art and Culture initiatives including the Community Art Hub and various Arts and Culture programs and activities throughout the community. This position is specifically designed for a Job Seeker registered with Real Futures to participate in a Paid Work Trial placement at the Shire of Carnarvon.. *All applicants will be placed into a pool*Key responsibilities of the role include:Demonstrate successful leadership through the application of the Shires core values by promoting a work culture of sustainability quality improvement efficiency and excellent customer service that corresponds to our Code of Conduct and Customer Service Charter.A commitment to a safe work environment and WHS legislation policy and processes. Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act (WA) 1955 and any relevant legislation. Assist in the organisation setup and promotion of the Community Art Hub program.Provide handson support during art and cultural events and workshops held at the Community Art Hub.Assist in the procurement of art supplies equipment and resources for the Community Art Hub.Maintain an organised inventory of art materials and equipment ensuring their availability for workshops and events.Encourage community involvement and participation in art and cultural activities.Collect feedback from participants to continuously improve and tailor programs to community needs and preferences.Collaborate with the Community & Cultural Development team to plan organise and execute various Arts and Culture programs and activities for the community including exhibitions performances and cultural events.Work Health & Safety ResponsibilitiesTo take reasonable care for their own safety and health and to avoid harming the safety and health of other people through any act or omission at City workplaces. And as relevant:Proactively comply with all City OSH Policies Procedures and Guidelines Practice duties and other relevant conditions. As well as with the WA WHS Act 2020 WHS (General) Regulations 2022 all other relevant Regulations Codes of Practice and Australian StandardsAs far as reasonably possible comply with instructions given by their employer or an authorised person in the interests of safety and health and in accordance with the WHS Act.Must report to their manager supervisor WHS Representative PC&S and/or other relevant contact person work related injuries near misses and any hazards at the workplace that they cannot correct themselves.Must use store and maintain personal protective equipment as properly instructed and not damage or misuse any equipment or facilities provided in the interests of safety and health.Participate in and where possible provide leadership for a continuous improvement culture of safety where best practice initiatives are entrenched in daily business activities.Licenses Registrations Memberships or Qualifications required of the role:Current Western Australia Drivers LicenseWorking with Childrens CheckPreemployment screening required for this role: National Police Clearance Less than 6 months oldPreemployment Medical ScreeningAlcohol and Other Drug screeningThis role will suit someone who is:Enthusiastic about the arts and culture and a passion for community engagementHas the ability to work independently and as part of a team Creative shows initiative and a willingness to learn.
