IMPORT CUSTOMS MANAGER

Our client has an exciting opportunity for experienced Import Customs Manager on a full time permanent basis based in Colnbrook near Heathrow.

This role is for a high calibre candidate who must have the ability to lead develop and motivate the Imports team while ensuring that all customs entries are processed accurately and in a timely manner. The successful candidate will also be responsible for putting into place effective and efficient processes and procedures to ensure all Duty and Tax payments are made to HMRC and are billed to and collected from customers. The individual must also thoroughly understand the HMRC customs clearance procedures and ensure that compliance with these procedures is always followed.

Import Customs Manager Responsibilities:

Personally process customs entries not just delegation of duties (lead by example)

Perform custom clearance entries for all courier/cargo import shipments

Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the processes and procedures

Improve effectiveness and efficiency of processes and procedures ensuring checks are in put into place

Manage and lead the Imports team (including monthly appraisals)

Ensure 100% compliance with HMRC policies and procedures

Communicate effectively with other departments (Operations/Finance)

Low value bulk clearance (BIRDS) & high value clearance

Import Customs Manager Requirements

Essential:

Management and leadership experience

Previous Courier Import experience

Low value bulk clearance (BIRDS) experience

Must be proficient in using LSI Sigma Data Freight/Descartes (ecustoms)

Must be proficient in using CDS and CNS System (Chief)

Must be able to work independently and as part of a larger team with a flexible can do attitude approach to working

Able to multitask work under pressure and meet set deadlines

Desirable:

Experience with MOU and AEO

Import Customs Manager Offer:

Salary ranging negotiable but around 47k Depending on Experience
