Job Description

Position Objective

Operate/manage the service department. Ensure that the department operates with in the company guidelines for safety, work is completed with in a timely manner, work is completed on budget to ensure profitability, and that customer service is a top priority. Additionally, will be responsible for identifying and capturing new business opportunities and develop new relationships with prospective clients to expand sales revenue.


Job Functions:

The service manager must have knowledge of and/or experience with all types of roofing. Must be able to sell and estimate. Able to read blue prints and understand specifications. Must have strong computer skills. Must have strong oral and written communications skills. Must be able to write reports, scopes and/or proposals. The Service Manager must have the ability to professionally manage people.


Responsibilities & Procedures:

  • Oversee flow of documents, (payroll, administration, final invoice and/or estimation --including final delivery of proposal).
  • Develop and execute a departmental sales plan
  • Review estimates, inspections, letters, scopes, proposals and invoices.
  • Monitor and teach subordinates.
  • Determine manpower; hire and fire as needed within Roof Experts guidelines.
  • Review employees according to established Roof Experts policies.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the customers, management and the employees.
  • Liaison with all other departments as needed.
  • Determine/establish training of any kind that best fits the needs of the employees and the business model.
  • Handle all day-to-day service department business including review of daily time cards and service tickets, review FSM, creating service tickets, scheduling, and communicating with field crews and office staff.
  • Ensuring that customer service needs are being exceeded.
  • Assist in collection of past due accounts receivable for service related work.
  • Attend meetings with owners, property managers and contractors to look at new work as well as inspect completed work when needed.
  • Review potential new work, sources shall include hot sheets, bids to general contractors, roof inspections, requests from building owners.
  • Issue proposals for service related work.
  • Manage service related projects, which may include monitoring labor hours and materials, job site meetings, communication with the building owner or general contractor, issuing job billing.
  • Ensure that service billings are processed in a timely manner.
  • Review existing personnel (field and office) on a regular basis.
  • Determine if additional staff is needed, then work with the HR representative to hire accordingly.
  • Ensure that field personnel are fully trained in order to perform their job at a high level. Schedule safety/ material/ procedure trainings as needed.
  • Review the daily service schedule.
  • Answer phones and e-mails timely
  • Meet with customers as needed.
  • Delegate roles and responsibilities to others.
  • Maintain the highest level of morale possible by example.


Requirements

Climbing up and down on ladders and equipment
Heavy lifting required (50-75) pounds, ladder work and tight space work required from time to time
Ability to pick-up a minimum of 25 pounds consistently and carry up to 250 feet unassisted
Operate handheld power tools
Wear personal protective equipment
Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and up to 12 hours per day

Work Environment:
Work both indoors and outdoors
Would be exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures
Will be in proximity to hazardous conditions, equipment, and situations
Wear safety attire, such as goggles or other protective clothing
Could be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and distracting
Will be exposed to very bright or inadequate lighting conditions
Ability to climb ladders and work from roofs and scaffolding
Will work around exposed contaminants
Must be able to work in cramped work places, such as crawl spaces under floors.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 3 years minimum experience in roofing is preferred by not required. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of production workers. Knowledge of commercial roofing systems and installation techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, and vendors. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve production issues quickly and effectively. Bi-Lingual Spanish and English
